Trump Gave Servers and Bartenders Bigger Tax Refunds — And the Media Is Pretending It's a Mystery

Servers, bartenders, and tipped workers all across America are opening their tax refund checks this month and finding something unexpected — more money. Significantly more money. Turns out, when you stop taxing tips, the people who earn tips get to keep more of what they earned. Shocking concept, we know.

But here’s the beautiful part — most of them have no idea why their refunds are bigger. Because the media spent four years telling every waitress in America that Donald Trump was going to personally ruin her life, and now that he’s putting money back in her pocket, CNN somehow forgot to mention it. Funny how that works.

President Trump campaigned on “no tax on tips.” He said it at rallies. He said it on Truth Social. He said it while ordering steaks. And then — in a move that apparently baffles our entire journalistic establishment — he actually did it. The policy went into effect, the IRS adjusted withholding calculations, and now tipped workers across the country are seeing refunds that are hundreds, sometimes thousands of dollars larger than last year.

And nobody in the mainstream press will connect the dots for them.

We checked. ABC didn’t run a segment. NBC didn’t run a segment. The Washington Post published a piece about “unexpectedly large refunds” that somehow managed to avoid mentioning the words “Trump” or “tips” in the same paragraph. That takes talent, honestly. You have to actively try to be that useless.

Think about this for a second. You’re a bartender in Phoenix. You worked sixty-hour weeks all year. You filed your taxes and your refund came back twelve hundred bucks fatter than last time. Wouldn’t you want to know why? Wouldn’t that be, oh, we don’t know — newsworthy?

Not if you’re a major network whose entire editorial strategy is “never let Trump get credit for anything, ever.”

The numbers are real. The National Restaurant Association estimates that roughly 5.5 million tipped workers are seeing meaningful increases in their take-home pay and refunds. That’s 5.5 million working-class Americans — the exact people Democrats claim to fight for every election cycle — getting a direct financial benefit from a Trump policy.

And Democrats are completely silent about it. Not a peep. Nancy Pelosi isn’t holding a press conference to celebrate working families getting more money. Chuck Schumer isn’t tweeting about it. AOC — who literally used to be a bartender, by the way — hasn’t said a single word. You’d think the woman who built her entire political brand on being a “working-class warrior” from the Bronx might have an opinion about bartenders keeping more of their own money. But nope. Radio silence from sugar-pants.

(Almost like the “party of the working class” only cares about working people when it’s time to ask for their votes. Classic.)

Here’s what kills us. The same media outlets that ran seventeen thousand breathless stories about how Trump’s tariffs would “raise prices on everyday Americans” cannot bring themselves to run one story — ONE — about a Trump policy that is literally putting cash in the pockets of everyday Americans right now. Today. This tax season.

Because if your viewers find out that the guy you told them to hate is the reason their refund check went up, they might start questioning what else you’ve been lying about. And that is the one thing the mainstream press cannot afford.

So we’ll do their job for them. If you know a server, a bartender, a valet, a hairstylist, a delivery driver — anyone who earns tips — tell them why their refund is bigger this year. Tell them who did it. Because their favorite news anchors sure aren’t going to.

President Trump promised no tax on tips. He delivered. And millions of working Americans are better off because of it. The only mystery here is why the media thinks they can hide good news forever.

Spoiler: they can’t. We just told everybody.
